Meet Kate McLaughlin, Mental Health Advocate

Posted on Sep 2nd, 2008

I had a great conversation with Kate McLaughlin (katemclaughlin.net)  last week. She is a wonderful example of support and understanding for the community. I look forward to working with her from time to time and also getting to know her more as a person. The need for more advocates with her passion is evident and long overdue.

In addition to writing her own blog, Kate regularly contributes to several on-line forums and e-zines, including Revolution Health, MomBloggers Club and NAMI's 'Caring and Sharing'. She is a member of the Child and Adolescent Bipolar Foundation, Depression and Bipolar Support Alliance, the Juvenile Bipolar Research Foundation, the National Alliance on Mental Illness, and Mental Health America; and she participates in several mental health speakers bureaus. Kate frequently presents to students, educators, parents, and mental health consumers.

Her recently published book, Mommy I'm Still in Here, has had wonderful reviews and is on my must read list as soon as it hits my doorstep. I want to personally thank Kate for everything she does and everything she represents.
